Industrial robotic arm for palletizing

What is a robot palletizer?

A robot palletizer uses a robotic arm and a bag-compatible gripper to pick up filled bags and stack them in a defined pallet pattern. The complete cell includes the agreed infeed, controls, pallet positions and safeguarding. Select the robot and gripper together around the bag load, working reach and required cycle.

Where it is used

For bag-handling projects where a robotic stacking arrangement is being evaluated as part of the downstream packaging system.

Machine type
Robotic bag palletizer
Handling approach
Robot arm with a bag-compatible gripper
Input
Filled bags presented at a defined pickup position
Integration
Infeed, pallet positions, controls and safeguarding

How it works

  1. 01

    Present for pickup

Deliver a bag at the specified position and orientation.

  2. 02

    Grip and move

The selected end-of-arm tool holds the bag during the transfer.

  3. 03

    Place in pattern

The robot places the bag at its assigned position in the pallet load.

Define the configuration.

Agree the equipment scope around the actual material, bag and production route.

Robot and tool

Bag load, gripper mass, working reach and the required movement.

Cell layout

Pickup position, pallet positions, maintenance access and safety boundaries.

Program and pattern

Bag orientation, layer arrangement and changeover requirements.

Specify your equipment.

Use the material, bag and required output to define a configuration. The equipment quotation records the agreed operating conditions and machine details.

Payload and reach alone do not establish a working bag-handling cycle. The robot, gripper, bag behavior and complete movement need to be reviewed together.

Material
Type, flow characteristics and bulk density
Bag format
Bag construction, dimensions and target filled weight
Required output
Bags per hour and operating hours
Installation
Available space, power supply and equipment interfaces

What to prepare.

  • Provide bag weight and filled dimensions, including variation.
  • Specify pallet dimensions, stack pattern and required cycle.
  • Share the proposed cell layout and upstream conveyor arrangement.

Common questions

Should I specify the robot or the complete palletizing cell?

Specify the bag, pickup position, pallet pattern and cell layout first. The robot arm and gripper are selected within that complete arrangement.

Can one gripper handle every bag?

That should not be assumed. Bag dimensions, surface, construction and filled shape affect gripping.

Does the robot alone make a complete palletizing system?

No. Bag presentation, controls, pallet handling and safeguarding also need a defined scope.

What information is needed for a robot palletizer quotation?

Send filled-bag weight and dimensions, pallet size, layer pattern, required output and a layout showing conveyor pickup and pallet removal. Confirm gripper, infeed, controls and safeguarding in the quoted scope.
